This is a Very Rare Mardi Gras invitation from Mobile, Alabama. It is an invitation to the First Annual Ball for the Order of Imps. Doubly rare on this item is that the members are named (most organizations are Mystic). Piece reads, 1st page, "O O I . Brimstone / Preparation" - 2nd page, "The Order of Imps / Will give you a / Warm Reception at their / First Annual Ball / to take place at their / Mundane Retreat, / the German Relief Hall / on Monday evening / January 30th 1893, / at 9 o'clock." - 3rd page, "Reception Committee / Capt. Wm.
This is a lovely Great Invitation for the Mobile, Al. Mardi Gras Organization "Knights of Revelry" for the year 1896 ( K.O.R. formed in 1874, and assuming first ball was in 1875 this would be 1896). Piece reads, "Knights of Revelry 21st Anniversary Mobile, Ala.". Piece is 5 3/4 inches by 7 1/8 inches, and has two holes punched on the side. This is from a nice group of Mardi Gras items we have obtained locally. Invitation is in very good condition, a little etching at the holes.

Piece reads, "The Knights of Revelry / Armory hall / Your presence is requested / Mardi Gras Day / March 1st '92 at 3 o'clock / P.M.". Piece is 5 1/4 inches by 6 7/8 inches, folded piece with two holes punched at the top. This is from a historic group of Mardi Gras items we have obtained. Invitation is in very good condition, a little dark and corners chipped.

This is a rare and wonderful piece of Confederate era African American History (probably Free Men). This is the "Rules, Regulations & By-Laws / For the better management of the Sabbath / M. E. Church" of Mobile, Ala. March 17, 1865. Committee and Framers are, Thomas H. Raymond - Samuel Wilson - Fenton Jackson - Chas. Blackledge - John W. Henderson & Emile Henry. Our research has found several of these gentlemen in city directories and they remain, after the war, prominent citizens.

Piece is Blind Embossed (have never seen one of these) and reads, "1890 / The Knights of Revelry / request the pleasure of your presence / Monday evening, April Seventh, / at eight o'clock / Princess Theatre / Mobile, Alabama". Piece is 6 1/4 x 7" is folded in the middle and in it's original blank envelope. This is from a nice group of Mardi Gras items we have obtained and one is annodated Mr. B. H.
